Yes, a ridiculously long time between updates

I know, I know. This section hardly counts as news at this point. What have we been up to?
Well, if you have sent use your email address etc, so we could send you our next cd, then you know, because we've been mailing you mp3s and keeping you up to date. (And it's not too late to sign up, either!!) There's good stuff coming too - some collaborations, the next album release, and live shows planned for the summer and fall.

More pride news, more pick ups, more music, but first: sign up for our next cd - free.

Trisa has an update for you, but first:

We wanted to bring your attention to the sign up for a free copy button above. Click on it and send us your email and address, and we'll send our next cd in the mail, free. That's it - no strings attached. We are just trying to spread the love, and gather people around us who appreciate our music.

Now that's out of the way, Trisa has an update for you:

"Jonathan and I are blazing hot new tracks for the upcoming Fall 2004 release. I am so excited about the material we are going to send your way, I can barely contain myself. [me either. In fact, I'm going to have to upload a snippet of something, or I'll explode. Watch this spot closely. - bIz]

Also, I wanted to let you know that this Pride Idol set the Main Stage on fire at therecent SF Pride Festival. Not literally of course…but my band and I created some heat that will not soon be forgotten. Hopefully, we’ll post some pics of the goings on for you very soon. (Jonathan? How about it ;) [Just send me the pics - bIz] We were two acts after Chaka Khan and positively lit up the San Francisco Civic Center in front of thousands of festival go-ers.

In the meanwhile, we’ve been added to yet another college radio station playlist: www.kcpr.com, Cal Poly Tech out here on the west coast. Be sure to tune in.

That’s the news for now. Don’t forget to check me out in “jazz mode” as “Trisa & the Klipptones”, on July 12th and August 5th at the Shanghai 1930 Jazz Lounge and Restaurant, and look for news of future gigs in the very, very near future…"

Trisa sings

Trisa won the San Francisco Pride Idol Competition last friday! (You know - it's like a local version of that pop idol show that has so many people glued to their TV screen)

She's going to be singing on the main stage at the SF Pride Festival on Sunday, with her band Rockalicious [I'd give you a link so you could find out all about them, but at this point, I don't think there is one. Trisa? - bIz] Excellent!

She's also going to be playing with Rockalicous at the Shanghai Jazz Lounge - on July 12 and August 5th. A swanky place.

We recorded another track for the next release this weekend, and we've got another one to do this weekend. More news on that latter, if I can keep myself some posting actual clips.

We've had over 3,600 downloads on mp3.com. We are their #1 downtempo artist. Excellent! We're number one! We're number one! We're number one! Yeah!! Yeahhh!! (In a cool, suave, sophisticated, downtempo kind of way, of course).

The Radio EP is still getting airplay, and we've been added to a bunch of internet stations around the world:

  • www.lounge-radio.com (Switzerland)
  • www.pulseradio.net (Australia)
  • www.f9radio.com (England)
  • www.jazzylounge.com (Illinois, USA)
  • www.radio42.com (Germany)
  • So, there you go...

    Moved to music.download.com's front page

Music.download.com put us on their front page for the last few days. Lot's of you found out about us there and came here to vist. Most excellent!

Now that you are here, (and if you haven't already) please click on the player to the right, to play the music we have been making. And, sign up for our next release - we'll send you a copy (I'd do it now, if I were you - we won't be able to add people to the list forever). And, while you do, could I just take a small moment ask a teensy, tiny favour? A little, itsi-bitsy, 'wapher theen' favour? A small morsel, of a crumb, of a kernel, of a favour?

TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT US. PLAY THEM OUR STUFF. GET THEM TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE CD. AND, GET THEM TO TELL THEIR FRIENDS.

If you like what we are doing, and would like us to make more, and maybe one day for musicians like us to take over the airwaves, and make a world where good, interesting music can thrive and radio stations don't churn out lowest common denominator, recycled, paint by numbers music, then the keys are in your hands. Spread the word, and let us know.

Ok, diatribe over. Where was I? Stuff goes on, Trisa and I are meeting regularly now and actually working on the next release, instead of meeting regularly and talking about cd duplication, and websites, and little bugs with hearts on them. Our first live gig is three weeks away, and I'm scrambling to put together a semblance of an entertaining set. Trisa's already booking us for shows in August...

    5.02.2004 - 6.17 pm

    Hell yes!

We now have five confirmed adds to college station playlists. What's more, we are cnet's featured electronica artist!!! Excellent!

It's been a really long couple of weeks, but I was able to spend quite some time this weekend getting back into musical action. Everything is shaping up nicely, and we are gearing up for our first live shows, in a few week's time. Details to follow (after the first one - I'm not really sure how many people I want to know about that, yet :) )

    4.28.2004 - 9.29 pm

    First college tracking begins

The cds we sent out a couple of weeks back are arriving at radio stations, and djs are starting to play our stuff. It's a very good feeling. Party hats and little champage glasses for everyone.!

What's more, people are starting to sign up to receive our next release. Warm fuzzy feelings, warm fuzzy feelings...

    4.26.2004 - 7.06 pm

Wohoo! The music section is now working. Let us know what you think.

    4.25.2004 - 9.33 pm

Yes! The new site is up! I must admit, building websites isn't boring, though it can be pretty frustrating.

What's more, the form to get your a copy of our next release is up too. Yes, that's right - we are giving away our next musical release to whoever asks for it.

Please stand by while final adjustments are made. We understand how frustrating it is to reach a music website that has no music on it. Trust us, it will be up by the end of the day.

You can download the files by clicking on the little arrow to the right of the name.

Technical difficulties? We'll do our best to help. Click here to email us Please remove all the capital letters from the email address - they are there to confuse evil spam bots. In fact, I suggest you do the same, anywhere your email address is on a web page - it cuts down the spam enormously.

Yes, you heard us. While we can, we are giving away copies of our next release (not >this< release - the stuff up on the website, and being sent to radio stations around the country). We send you a cd, in the mail. A real cd, not a cheesy mp3. We're going to send as many as we can, until we run out of cash for cds and stamps.

    Why?

Because you can only spend so much time noodling around in your bedroom - half of the musical process is sharing it with other people.

Trisa and I are hoping that by giving you this, the three of us can establish a connection and we can make music for you to appreciate. If you value our music, then you'll want to support what we are doing, by buying music that we make in the future. Then we use the your money to pay to make more music. Everyone wins.

So sign up now! First come, first served. Please keep in mind it's going to take us three or four months to get the next one together, so a little patience is required. Though writing to us and telling us how much you our stuff >might< make us more productive :>

    Bio

    Biz on Trisa:

Trisa rocks! When I first envisioned this project, I had no idea I would find meet someone who could capture my concept so completley. She knows how to use her voice, and it's a very beautiful voice.

Trisa is involved in several music projects aside from this one, along with leading her own hiphop dance troupe and driving around town with a small brown dog wearing goggles. The dog, that is.

    Trisa on biz-j2-Jonathan

j2 stands for Jonathan El-Bizri, the second Jonathan in my life. (The first Jonathan is a cute little Filipino dancer/singer/Pilates instructor/rock star – worlds apart from j2).

When j2 approached me about this project, I was a little unclear on my role in it as I’d done nothing like this before. I didn’t even listen to electronica music. But I decided to give it a shot anyway. After meeting j2 and watching his work in action, I realized he was a very talented sound engineer, not to mention a quality human being. His very skill and personality imbued confidence and a willingness to stretch my vocal chords in this new direction. Eventually, after years, months, days, and hours of working closely with him, our friendship has become the very soul of Groovetronica.

j2 is hands down one of the hardest working people I know. He is creative, persistent, and soft spoken. It is a privilege to be the voice to his sound design.
